PLS READ THIS...

Hello everyone...I want to clear some things out....It is true that im the Joint Secretary, and while it is my duty to SERVE you all, im not anybody's SERVANT..im aiming this dialogue at some very specific ppl whom i do not want to name, but i hope all of you heed the difference..

Now to address the HUGE hungama surrounding our business suits...thats right, A SUIT !!!!! A whole class of future CEOs and managers, and we cannot take a simple decision regarding 3 metres of cloth...truly i pity the companies tht are going to hire us..how much are we going to fight and play politics before we realise that at the end, only we are going to suffer, and not others? Neither the college nor the teachers will be affected, only us...

As Gupta Sir told a select few today, none of us is bigger than the organisation. We are all identified with our dept. so all of us HAS to take decisions tht will be for the best for the DEPT..it becomes obvious then, what we should all do...complain less, become united, and take decisions rationally...as all our teachers are saying again and again, MBA is not about studying from books..it is all about developing personality and getting into the right mindset..A manager's biggest role is to be a problem solver...but instead of finding a solution to every problem, we are finding problems in every solution..

ok...i went a bit of track... Back to the suits...may i describe wht i hve been going thru for the suits, and pls try to visualize the situation from my shoes..i have been running behind the whole class ever since our mid term tests got over..I requested Gauri to bring 3 suit samples...everyone rejected it on the spot bcoz "the quality wasnt good"....ok fine...i told everyone who dint like them to bring their own samples that was good quality..but no one bothered..Then i took 3 girls and went along with our GS mehul, all the way to the Bombay Dyeing showroom, to get samples..Then after that we went to Lajpat Nagar to get shirt samples...this whole process took 5 hours...Then i showed the 12 suit samples and 10 shirt samples to the entire class....obviously, fighting ensured...so i democratically took a vote...It narrowingly went in favor of suit no 6..but did the rest of the class accept the decision? NO !!!! ofcourse not...tht would hve been too simple...

Deluged with so many complaints, i had no choice but to drop the suit samples...i was earlier collecting rs. 3000 . . .2500 for the suit and 500 for the alumni meet, RUBAROO...so i just instructed sarwar to collect rs 500 for rubaroo...barely 30 ppl from the entire class gave him the money..then after the event was cancelled, he had to give the entire money back..luckily he handled the headaches superbly..i dont think most of u realised how tough it is to walk around with huge sums of other people's money in your pocket..its a huge responsibility..

now fast forwarding the story...i WANTED to arrange suits for the class fast..so i requested the other varun to help me..he said he had an uncle who was in the entire clothing business...so one day, we both went to his office..then he took us to the main wholesaler in Chandni Chowk..there using his contacts and A LOT of negotiations, we got 5 huge suit rolls itself...at 40% discount..then varun and i came back and the next day, we brought the rolls to class...and we kept displaying the cloths to all students like a couple of sales ladies, for TWO days...did the whole class like a particular design..again no, but this time, there was a proper majority atleast..more than 70% of the class said they prefferred the black suit with red stripes..WHEW!!!! our job was finally done!!!! right??? wrong....

I announced to everyone tht it would cost rs 2000 for the suit, pant, shirt tie AND stitching...everyone was ok with it, though some felt it was tad bit expensive...i kept asking around for opinions to everyone in class, blogged all abt it, sent everyone messages...mostly everyone was satisfied..so i told Varun to confirm with his uncle that we will be taking the suits...and i also requested everyone to bring the money...

Then overnight, a HUGE bunch of problems cropped up..some of them were:

1. The quality of material was not "upto standard"
2. it would become destroyed after one washing!!
3. it will disintegrate completely after wearing it 5 times !!!
4. its a bit expensive..
5. Its too cheap...
6. this is a HUGE investment..once we buy a suit, it should last us our entire LIFETIME...(this complaint is my personal favorite)...so it should be of the highest quality, but still be cheap..
7, we dont like the design
8. we dont like the color
9. we need lifetime guarantee on the suit..
10.why cant we all buy different suits?
10. why do we need to buy suits?

the list of complaints kept goin on and on and on...it is impossible to reach a consensus of 66 people, all of us have different tastes and preferences...we should all go with the majority..but our class is sooooooo sellfish, that even a few students who are in the minority raise a huge hue and cry...and fight unnecessarily and play politcs and divide the class...who are the ultimate losers?it is only us..rest of the world are either not bothered or are pointing and laughing at us...

one thing we are good at, that is complaining..and not taking any responsibility..do anyone of you realise how tough it was to get the suits?me and varun wasted DAYS running after the samples..now my time may be worthless to you all, but its very precious for me..i can do so many things, like sleeping or studying or watching a movie, rather than standing under the hot blazing sun and begging retailers to reduce prices...this is exactly what the other VARUn did, wasting his time, petrol, phone credit, etc etc etc...it is so easy to dismiss the samples as saying tht they are worthless...but do you know how much hard work we put behind it to get them to you?Y dont anyone of you go get samples?if you think that you can do better than me, y dont u go get atleast 5 suit samples of high quality, negotiate the prices for best bargain, get them to college, get one selected by a clear majority, decide on the prices, THEN COLLECT THE MONEY, give the advance, get the suit material, then arrange a tailor, get the measurements, get them stitched, then delivered, and still be responsible for any defects?

I dont know from where so many complaints came from....i never knew we had such great quality control agents and fashion experts in our class !!! who are so sure tht the suits we brought were of such low grade...even though Varun's uncle, who has been in this business for over 20 years, is GUARANTEEING the quality of the suits...truly, u guys are great indeed...

Anyways, to cap things off...I had spoken the student advisor..we HAVE to get the suits by November 9th...tht is the last date..And FINALLY by class consensus, we all agreed tht it should be black, with red stripes, a white shirt and a red tie...PLEASE NO MORE ARGUMENTS ON THIS MATTER !!!! I BEG ALL OF YOU !!!!!

Now you have two choices:

1. Go buy your own suit matching the color combination and get it stitched by yourself..you can make it as expensive or cheap as you want...minor variations are no problem at all..

2. Give rs 2000 to me, and i will get the suit to you as agreed before..last date to pay to me is this comig TUESDay..After that, i wont accept any more people, and you have to get your suits from outside..

The other Varun, being the good and naive guy he is, has agreed once AGAIN to go search for new QUALITY of suits..basically he is going to get a black suit with red stripes of Reid n Taylor...this we can offer you at a slightly higher price, which you may not or may not pay....only one thing is certain....<<<>>

-Thanks all of you...my apologies for sounding so rude, but i thot it wud be better to share my feelings and opinions, rather than bottling them up..HAVE A NICE DAY !!

SUIT

Hi ppl !!!! As u may (or may not) know, the class AS A WHOLE decided on a suit today ...so we have to get it as quickly as possible..Please bring rs 2000 tomorrow!!!! this includes the suit material, shirt material, tie AND stitching...im sure u will all agree that it cant get any cheaper than this. ...(actually u can, if u want a polyester suit)...I know some of u dont like the design, but please remember that the whole class chose this one as a CONSENSUS....this is our official dress, our uniform, which we have to wear in our dept during photo sessions, departmental events and other stuff..you are always willing to buy an expensive suit, with a design of your choice, that you can wear for ur individual interviews..so im looking forward to all ur cooperation in this regard...thanks!!!!

IMP NOTICE!!!

Hi Friends!

Just a few things i wanted to share with all of you..

1. All of you were looking very good in formals yesterday. Even though our VC didnt finally turn up, the class as a whole was finally looking like MBA students..i think we should all come in formals more often.

2. Our Alumni meet has been postponed till January second week. Due to unavoidable security reasons, our booking was cancelled. Lots of thanks to Pallavi, Nisha and Anam who called all the 300+ alumni to invite them, and then to Uma and Manju, for calling them up again and cancelling the invitations! Thanks girls...i will need ur help in Jan again..

3. We have to get our business suits ASAP!!! i will be bringing a few more suit samples today or 2morro..Pls bring rs 2500 on MONDAY without fail and submit it to Sarwar..we have to get the suits stitched before next week.

4. If anyone wants to collect their 500 bucks paid for the alumni meet, they can collect it from sarwar. or they can just let him keep it like i hve done, since we have to pay for the suits anyway.

5. VERY VERY IMP: It has been brought to my notice that students of our class consistently approach teachers for change of schedules, assignment dates, assignment topics, etc without consulting other students..I kindly request all of you NOT to do this. the teachers themselves are complaining that our class has no unity, and the blame ultimately falls on me and sarwar. for instance, one student approaches a teacher for preponing a class, then another one goes to the teacher and wants to postpone it, and yet another one wants to cancel the class all together!! please understand that this gives a very bad impression to the teachers, and you are compromising Sarwar's and my position. Sarwar is class REPRESENTATIVE. so for any problems you might face, please go and consult him. if hes not available, please come to me. We both will then take a decison that is in the best interest of the ENTIRE class, not just any particular individual or group. WE will then approach the concerned faculty and solve the problem.I think that most of you will agree to the logic behind this proposition.

Thanks to all of you, and my apologies if i have offended anyone. I have been in a cranky mood all of last week, and my temper has been very short. I would like to say sorry to people that i shouted at unnecessarily, like Pallavi, Devika and Anam. i kno there is no excuse for me for losing my temper, but u guys please understand that ur actions also reflect on me in font of other people eyes..

THANKS !!!! ROCK ON !!!!

Placements

Hey Frenz,

Hope you all are having a very good time greedily gobbling sweets and bursting crackers with family and friends :) I have something very important to talk about (regarding placements). Please read this mail carefully and come forward with your active participation towards placements.

First of all we all need to understand how important summer placements are for our career. For that you need to identify the area you want to be in- Marketing, HR or Finance and specifically in which particular sector like Brand Management, Advertising etc. You have to realize what you want to do and what you are good at and set realistic goals for yourself.

People who are passionate about Marketing should come up with a list of companies and their contacts so that we will target those companies for summer training as well as final placements. We have to make our presence felt by giving corporate presentations and regular follow ups. Similarly we will do it for HR and Finance. Let’s join hands together. We have two days in hand and we can make good use of it. Please mail the list to
jamia.placement.2011@gmail.com. Also, if we are willing to work now, things will be a lot easier next year.

We all need to understand the gravity of the situation and the limited time we have (we are already running late).I hope I am not sounding too preachy ;) I wish all of you a very HAPPY DIWALI. May this Diwali enlighten us with wisdom and knowledge. Hope we have brighter days ahead :)

Thanks & Regards,

Fazela Begum

IMPORTANT UPDATE....

Hi friends!!! I hope you all had a wonderful week (yes, im being sarcastic)...finally! we can relax till our exams start on november 19th right? Not exactly....

First of all, this coming Tuesday and Wednesday we have Confluence, our Jamia Career n Placement fair..Its a pretty big event, and we have given ads in national newspapers, delhi radio, invited students of all major Colleges, etc.. Though most of the companies who are coming to place are not looking for management students per se, it will still be a great opportunity to meet top level people..I think that classes might be suspended on both the days, but i no idea about it yet, i have to confirm it...The most rewarding event for us will be the seminars given by the senior executives of different companies on both the days..I will be very beneficial for us if we can attend it,as we can learn what are these companies expecting from their future employees (hopefully us!)..They will also give information and advice on various career prospects and the fields that have a lot of scope..Im personally looking forward to the talk on Sports Management, and another talk on Retailing in India....There will also be talks on general preparation, skill building, etc...at the end of every talk, there will be an opportunity for us to personally interact with the speakers, and im sure it will be invaluable for us...MIB and BBS students are very excited about these events, and we should be too....This is an ideal platform where we can let everyone know that Jamia MBA program is alive and kicking....So im looking forwards to a lot of interactive participation from you guys..Remember, a lot of executives from top companies are coming to jamia for the first time...If we can impress them, then they will definitely rturn for placements, and then CMS students can reap the benfits... Mohit and Nadeem have volunteered from our class...and I might me anchoring the second quarter of the first day's events along with our senior sheeba zaidi...

Next on the list is Rubaroo, our alumni meet..for the first time (i think)we are going to hold it outside our campus, and its going to be a MEGA event...we have sent out invitations to almost ALL our CMS graduated students, and many of them have accepted and are comin...i shall update you guys on the exact date this coming week...its tentatively on the 24th of this month...that leaves us very less time to get everything organized..needless to say, organizing such a big event will surely give you practical exposure to management, so if anyone wants to volunteer, please let me know..its going to be held in a conference room, and lunch will be catered by a 3 star restaurant..the alumni meet will be the most enriching experience we get from this semester...we can directly meet and talk with all the people who graduated from our college itself, meaning that their experiences will be the most relevant for us..they have already been out there in the job market, and have succeeded..they had gone through a lot of hard work and sufferring, made alot of mistakes, and learnt from them.. but that is exactly why we need an alumni meet..they can tell us the mistakes they made, and the short cuts they took and the contacts they made and how they made them..they can tel us what are the pros and cons of working in a particular sector or company.. they can guide us on how to prepare ourselves for interviews, what kind of questions our employers might ask and most importantly, what employers expect from us..they can instruct us on how to negotiate our salary and perks and ow to move up the corporate ladder...how can they do all this, you ask? simple...they have done it recently, or are in the process of doing it right now...they can provide us with an insight into the markets like no one else can, and ensure that we dont have to take unnecessary pains or hardships...

But there is one small thing all of you have to do, and do it VERY QUICKLYyou have to get your business suits stitchedI cannot emphasize enough on the importance of our business suits, especially since we are MBA studentsA business mans’ suits is his most powerful asset, im sure most of you will agree to that..whenever you see a successful business man or senior executive or any manger on TV, magazines, or even in real life, what is the one common thing that they have? A powerful business suit, that speak volumes about what kind of person they are.. Plus, they are MANDATORY for all placement events and interviews in our college…(and a MBA graduate without an official dress? UGH..what an insult....) Since all of us have to have IDENTICAL suits, we all have to get it from the same placeMehul, our GS, can arrange very high quality cloth from Bombay Dyeing at more than 50% offso we have to get them quickly, and get them stitched ASAPSo im kindly requesting you to bring Rs. 3000 on MONDAY itself and give it to our class CR, SarwarThis includes our contribution to Rubaroo as well.im sure all of you will agree that 2500 is quite a bargain for a suit (go checkout Westside or pantaloons or Bombay Dyeing showrooms..no suits come under 4000 rs, and they are of crappy quality)..the average good suits cost 6000 rupees atleastremember for all you skeptics out there, that to earn something, you have to first spend somethingand according to me, our business suits will be directly linked to our final placement offers, as it’s such a powerful tool to impress prospective employers

So to sum it up, any volunteers for Rubaroo please contact meand EVERYONE please bring Rs. 3000 and submit it on Monday itself..you all know that finally, you have to pay up the cash, whether you like it or not, and there is no way you can escape from it

To end on a lighter note, did you know that an alumnus is a “A male graduate or former student of a school, college, or university?” the plural of alumnus is alumni.A female graduate is called an alumna and its plural is alumnaethat something for the feminists to lose sleep about…all the alumni meets happening around the world...

Have a wonderful weekend!

Fantasy Cricket Competition

Hi This is an open challenge to all the guys in our class....and some of the girls as well...I DARE anyone to defeat me in the cricinfo fantasy tournament for the Champions Trophy starting on 22.09.09...This game is basically like super selector...you have to make your own team out of a pool consisting of players from all the eight participating teams..Ur team should have specific order of batsmen, bowlers, allrounders and a wicket keeper. The points are scored based upon the real life performances of your selected players in the upcoming Champions Trophy..

There is also another fantasy game, entitled Champions Trophy Pick'em..In this you just have to choose who is the winner of each game that is played, and your points are tabulated acc to the no of correct guesses you have give.

For complete info on the rules, scoring system, and creating teams go to the link below:

http://fantasy.cricinfo.com/fantasy/fantasyleague/user/home.html?addata=fl_combo_footer

The best part is that i have also made an independant league, titled Jamia CMS. Only our class members will be present, and we will be competing with each other on who has the maximum points..You will also automatically competing with the rest of the world, to see whos no 1.. the top teams also get very big prizes...

So go to the site and create your team now! it doesnt take more than 10 mins..Its a hugely fun and addictive game, and im sure whoever plays will enjoy it..If you can create ur team before 22/9/09, you can earn some extra points..After creating a team, u can just post ur name over here, and i will add you to the League, so you can compete with the rest of the class...

So can anyone of you defeat me? I dont think so...

-Varun Nair
(p.s. if anyone else can defeat me, i will be giving them a prize as well...)

EID MUBARAK !!!!

Here's wishing all of you a Very Very Happy Eid !!! May God bless all of you and your families..

P.S. This also means that college is closed on Monday and Tuesday..So see you guys on Wednesday...

Once again, Eid Mubarak..

Business Suits....

Helo all...Hmmm...I was kinda absent from the blog for a couple of days, my laptop is screwed...so its kinda hard for me to access the net..
Well, the most important update i have is that our class URGENTLY needs to make business suits...all our seniors have them...We have to discuss the COLOR, the DESIGN of suit n tie, and most importantly, THE QUALITY (directly linked to price)...all our suits have to be same and brought n stitched from the same place..it can range anything from rs 2500 to rs 6000, its upto us..The suits are MANDATORY for most of our future events such as Alumni Meet, Placement activities, summer training, etc...

The Real Vote of Thanks !!!

Hello friends!!! How are all of you? I certainly hope that you enjoyed our Teacher's Day Events...Many people missed it, they didnt show up, well...TOO BAD!!!! It was really good, everyone liked it. It was the best organized event so far in our Centre. If i had to give marks, this event would have gotten 75/100. Our fresher's party would have gotten 30/100 and the HR quiz would have gotten 25/100. Both were super-duper flops. This 75/100 which im giving for our show is for overall execution. For dedication and commitment, our organizing team would have gotten 95/100...top marks! even tho everyone enjoyed the show, i still feel that there is a lot of room for improvement..Most of the confusion that happened today was not really our fault, since the whole itenary got changed exactly 10 mins before the start of the show...But still, we cant use tht as an excuse. I hope all of who were in the organizing commitee learned valuable lessons..with gained experience, im sure that our next event will run even more smoothly..
I have one regret for the day tho..It was concerning the Vote of Thanks given by our senior. it was not that it was boring or unintelligible, but the fact that she suffered acute amnesia when it came to thanking the actual people who did the work..Luckily, i suffer no such memory losses, so i present to you, my personal Vote Of Thanks:
1. First of all, i would like to thank my senior Nisha, for showing us exactly what NOT to do during a Vote of Thanks. I have learnt many valuable tips from her, and i shall implement it next time i have to give a speech (basically i will do exact opposite of whatever she did)..
2. Next on my list is Rahul. He is the most cool-headed guy i have met, and the best to have under any kind of emergency. He not only handled ALL the responsibilities i gave him, but he took on many more without me asking him, and he executed them brilliantly...Thanks Rahul...
3. I would also like to thank our Fazela. Shes a bit hot headed sometimes, but i think a forceful character is required for a leader. She was the perfect complement for Rahul, and together they worked as a perfect team. i think all of us can learn a lot from them, especially their dedication and hard work should be taken up as examples for everyone else..Thanks a lot Fazela....
4. Next i would like to thank the team of Mozzammil, Naveen and rohit.I think their Kaun Banega Dassvi Pass was the best event of the whole day...there was audio, video, speed round....the teachers really loved it..u guys rocked!!!!
5. I would also like to thank shweta, who single-handedly organized the entire "Bollywood Bollywood" Show..if any one of u noticed, she gave a speech of thanks at the end of her event..Now that's what i call a Vote of Thanks..Thanks Shweta, for knowing the actual definition of a vote of thanks...too bad our senior didnt...
6. I also want to thank the Ladies-only team of Hafsa, Shahla and Huma.. As usual, they did all the odd jobs that no one else wanted to do..They wrote the titles and poems for each teacher, filled out all the cards, decorated the hall, and a hundred other small small things that made a huge difference to the outcome of the entire event..my only complaint is that i think you girls should take on a much bigger role in the events, and should come in the limelight a bit more..You obviously have talent, i think its just a little bit of confidence ur lacking...the next MAJOR event coming up is our Alumni Meet, Rubaroo..I would like you girls to take the initiative this time and organize everything..
7. Next person i would like to thank is Naiyyer and fazlur. He was the one who had the idea for a game show in the first place and he took the entire initiative..The teachers enjoyed his show a lot too...tho naiyyer, atleast next time cut out your accent....and your Russel Peter Jokes..no one got them...
8. I also want to thank Mohit for lugging around speakers and projectors and chairs and other stuff that weighed more than him...thanks dude...(btw if anyone of you comment on MY weight, im just gonna delete that post..so dont bother... )
9. Next is Maleka..Her speech was short, to the point and full of emotion. you could feel that she wrote the entire thing herself, and not just copy pasted it from some website (unlike our senior)...
10. my heartfelt thanks also goes to Javed. He had written a shayeri just for the teachers and cms..thanks dude...next time just check the mike properly, or try speaking without a mike...u werent audible in the back..but the teachers loved it...
11. I really want to aplaud abhinav..he is the one who drew all the teachers carricatures..at the end of the day, suhaib, mehul and i went around all the facultie's cabins, pasting the pictures on their doors..you can check them out 2morro...
12. Our seniors who actually did work was Suhaib, Mehul and Abdullah. Many thanks to them, otherwise the whole event wud not have happened at all..I also thank my anchoring partner sheeba and our glorious vp Meeraj..
13. Last of all, but most imp for me i want to thank Nisha Zaid and farhan, who form my pillars of support in the class..They always cheer me up when im down and always support me through the bad times...they always keep me constantly motivated to giv emy best...Thanks guys.....
So thats pretty much it...Im sure i missed a lot of names, people who contributed to the evnt.actually, our entire class deserves credit...SO THANK YOU MBA 1st SEM !!!!! God Bless You ...and we should rock even harder during the next event....
Ciao,
Varun Nair.

Well i want to officially announce that The Teacher's Day Celebrations are on Monday 07.09.09 from 1:45 onwards..The teachers and student advisors have declared that the entire event will be orgainized and hosted by the first years. So their entire eyes will be on us. i dont want it to turn out like the fresher's party..I want each and every one of your help and cooperation in this matter..I have given responsibility of overall coordination to Rahul and Fazela, and they are doing their jobs amazingly..i think all of us can learn a lesson from them..Then there are the people who are doing the individual events, they are each responsible for his/her event, that it shud be conducted smoothly..there shud be NO gap or pause between the events...when one show is goin on, the next act shud be ready and waiting to come on stage...

There is going to be singing, dumb charades, dart games (if i can get a dart board), best dressed teacher award (their dress code is blue), most popular teacher (who we will vote on Saturday), a game show like dus ka dum, a skit, shaeri readings, etc....so it will be loads of fun, all of u have to attend....pls stay back after class on Monday..

Our Safety Is our Concern

Hello friends, well i hate to sound like a preachy grandmom, but most of us need a crash course in safety...we always flout rules and think tht we are invincibe, we will never get punished...i think by the time you read this, you must have heard the sad news that a B tech 2nd year student of jamia was crushed to death by a blueline in front of our college/holy family.. it may be the fault of the driver, or the students own fault, but at the end of the day, its his parents tht are suffering the most. I had gone to north delhi, and while coming back it started raining slightly. then it started raining heavily. then very heavily. i was stuck outside the indraprashta metro station in the downpour for 2 hours waiting for an auto, but cudnt get one...finally after having no choice, i started jumpin in front of passing cars...i started waving down cars, bikes, trucks, cows, anything....i almost got run down 4 times-finally one car stopped and told he will take me to jamia for 80 bucks...we finally decided on 90 bucks, but he wud drop me all the way to hostel..

but i cudnt reach the hostel..the whole area was blocked by police vans and ropes..our entire hostels (there are nine of them) were on the road, protesting...i cud see riot poilice readying for a lathi charge on the side.the students, were readying for a jolly good time throwing rocks and stones..somehow i got thru all the security and i reached my room. i was tired, wet, cold and hungry, but hey, im still alive! but wht abt the poor guy lying outside on the road?wht abt his family?it cud hve been one of us, touchwood. i always cross tht jamia u-turn road looking up in the sky..and so do most of the drivers..that equates into a very bad formula....

well all i wanna say is tht BE CAREFUL !!!!!! ur life is precious...dont end it under a pair of 20 yr old rubber wheels...u guys are doing mba, u hve so much to do...u have to become big corporate leaders and change the lives of millions of ppl...so dont rob ur self of all the good times ahead..

i have to go now...i can hear the crowd gettin noisier and theres a big rock waiting for me, with my name on it...

World Forum

Hey guys.....Hope you all know abt the world forum thingy..it sounds very exciting, but a bit scary also...Dr Ansari is teh head of the whole process...I dont think write now i have more info on this topic, just tht 2morro we hve a screenin process...i havent prepared a crap thing...God help me...

Iftar Party Success

Hello everybody...Well i hope that all of you had enjoyed the iftar party..Most of you who were present said you liked it, for the people who missed it, well tuff luck..try to be present next time...there were so much stuff to eat, 3 different types of pakkodas in iftar itself..No other dept in Jamia had such an iftar till now, i can guarantee tht...even the food was better than fresher's..
I just want to thank the following people who helped me quite a lot during the setting up:
1. Zaid n farhan for becoming my fellow waiters..
2. Shweta shehla, shahla, hafsa, mohit pallavi, nisha for chopping fruits....anam was also present and huma khan also..
3. The above girls, esp hafsa for making all utensils sparkling clean.
4. Mudassir for clicking fotoz

Teachers Day!!! Ideas Required...

Hey guys next week we are having Teachers day celebrations...So we need to come up with very good suggestions for tht day..its going to be a small event, as there cant be any lunch due to Ramadan. There will be some games and competitions that will last max 2 hrs...Some of the suggestions are:
1. Teachers have to come in a dress code, and there will be a prize for best dressed teacher. I need suggestions for the dress code.
2. Teachers will have to show some extra talent such as singing, mimicry, etc...but i dont think we can pull this off with all teachers..
3. Competitions such as "Pin the tail on the donkey", "Dumb Charade", etc...

These are my stupid suggestions, thts all.....pls come up with good ideas and post them here, or think abt it and tell me in class 2morro.....This is MOST URGENT!!!! I need all the ideas latest by 2morro afternoon...

Result of POLL No 1

Hello Friends!!! Well i decided to cut short our first poll, it was running too long anyways....it is time for a new one !!!! so i present to u, the results for the hottest guy of our class poll:

Zaid Siddiqi 12 (31%)Khalid Qureshi 12 (31%)Farhan Naqavi 13 (34%)Rehan Baba 3 (7%)Chow Lucky 7 (18%)Naiyyer Alam 2 (5%)
Total Votes: 38

So the winner is FARHAN NAQAVI !!!!! Congrats! but it was a very very close vote tho, with him just getting one vote more than Zaid and Khalid...Atleast we have 3 hot guys in our class...Sorry khalid, u can argue that if the poll ran for two more days, you cud hve won...but i was becoming impatient, and i think tht Nisha has a thing for Farhan, so i think she wud love to take him out.....So congrats again FARHAN, nisha will take you out to any restaurant of you choice!!!

I have added the 'Most Desirable Girl' Poll now...already the competition was tough, but thanks to Hafsa, she has come screaming into contention with her gorgeous looks today (Bioscience Girls Rock!!!)...We also have a lot of boys requesting tht i add the new iranian girl Rahela....BTW, the winning girl can choose ANY guy of the class to treat her to Lunch, and he will have to comply..(lets face it, they will LOVE to comply, she is the most desirable after all...)...

DISCLAIMER: again, i wud like to point out that the 5 Girls selected for the poll was chosen by random sampling of 10 guy's views...It was more or less matching my views as well, so if ur name is not there, pls forgive me....i plan to conduct 2 polls a week, so there will be plenty of opportunities for u to win...this goes out to all the guys as well..

Ciao, Happy Voting!

Well today we had our great quiz organized by the HR quiz...i dont kno abt u guys, but i certainly enjoyed....i especially loved the part where i got first prize and won a 1000 bucks !!!! YAY!!!! (i kno right now tht u guyz wana bash my head)
But seriously speaking, it cud hve been handled a lot better...The seniors cud hve asked our help a bit more i feel, and the host cud hve interacted with the audience more...there were lots of things tht cud hve been improved...if u guys dint like it, i kno most of u dint, just post them here....we can use ur seggestions for next year, when we hve to organize it...then we can handle it a lot better and make it much more interesting...

p.s nisha i kno u hve a lot to say on this topic, so y dont u post ur views here?

Corporate Game on Friday

Hey friends....Thiz comin friday, we have a corporate game coming up...I dont have the details as of yet, but i shall put them up as when i find out..but what i do kno is:
1.This is a CMS dept thingy and not just organized by a club. 2, it is open to both seniors and juniors. 3. It should be in groups of 5. So whomever is interested shud form a group and give your name to FARHAN NAQAVI. I have given him the responsibility to coordinate this event. 4. A real life corporate problem will be given to the teams.it will be something like a really complicated case study, with a marketing module, an hr module, finance module etc..each member of a team will receive a module, and he/she will have to solve it quickly.. 5. The group should then collectively present their solutions to the problem individually.. 6. there will hardly be 5-10 mins to solve each prob 7. there will be many different types of problems, tht is different rounds.
This is the only info i hve so far....will update u giys more thoroghly 2morro...

Our Day Out !!!

hey guys as u all kno nisha wanted to go somewhere out today and enjoy, as the weather was so nice...thanks to her, we all decided to go to GIP.. most of u guys reached so late, but me, nisha, zaid, farhan and varun2 reached there pretty early..and we had a pretty good time, its actually the first time we all bonded together..it was fun we kept fighting with one another...first we went shopping in shoppers stop, then we were pretty mch going into any store tht caught our fancy...my favorite was this exotic pets shop, that had a 1.5 lakh cokatoo, and a persian cat and 4 puppies...a pug 2 month puppy was there which looked gorgeous...he was so friendly, he kept licking my hand... then we all went to the food court..sorry farhan n zaid suffered a lot, coz me n varun2 were hogging in front of them, even tho they had roza...sorry guys..to make things worse, we both continued eating whatever we could find around the food court... then the rest of u joined us and we went to the games center..the bowling lanes sucked tho...but it was fun bowling after such a long time..somehow i managed to tie with mohit for 1st place...mohit---i shall challenge u one on one next time..Pool table sucked even more, but still we had fun..zaid n i ended up shoving the pool stick up farhan n mohit--we won comprehensively...i enjoyed playing air hockey with nisha quite a lot also, but i enjoyed defeating her and making her cry a bit more...i saw fahad n mohit also enjoyin humping a wooden horse in the arcade..hope they got enuff practise.. then i dont kno where most of u guys disappeared..me zaid nisha farhan ended up in costa coffee drinking coffee and eating paninis...(me n nisha were doing the eating n drinkin, while zaid n farhan were watchin n cursing us)...after all dat we left for our respective homes....
So all in all, i had a lot of fun,,,,thanks guys!!! we should go somewhere together atleast once a week..next im planning to go for the movie "The Final Destination" in 3C mall in lajpat nagat..This movie is in 3d and the trailers look freakkin awesome!!!!! anyone who wants to join me, are wellcome....
See you 2morror, TC,

The Week That Was And The Week That Will Be......

Ok i think this time we had one of the most mentally challenging weeks we will ever face in our life...3 days of continuous presentations tht most of us couldnt make head or tails out of....whew!!!! and then we had to submit the summary of the entire 55 projects within 16 hours!!!! Pray tht we will get attendance....tho personally i think our class lost our good impression in front of the teachers...Hardly any1 showed up, and all of us were roaming around here n there..none of us were interested in the presentations, but we really cant blame ourselves too much either...
We also had our first computer class of the sem..The sir seemed like a pretty good sort..But i dont kno why we are going into circuitry of computers...hope its just an introductory class....i hope he teaches us some business or accounting software and not just word and excel...
This comin week will see some changes....Ramadan Timings will commence, that is from 9:00 a.m to 3:00 if im not mistaken..Every Tuesday from now on will have Student Activities, by each of the student clubs...The very first one is that of the HR club, and they will be organizing a quiz...Dont worry, it will be 100 times better than the quiz we had the misfortune to sit thru on our fresher's party...This event will be organized completely by our class, so i want everyone to help to make it a success...All the teachers will have thier eyes on this event, and it will set the ball rolling for all other activities...The HR club members from our class is Nisha, Shahla n Fahd. . so everyone pls help them to make this event a success....The most IMP thing is not to bunk the events that day...
The next event will be organized by the Finance club...Ofcourse its not going to be a quiz, but something better (hopefully)..Shweta is the member of the club from our class, and im sure she has some bright ideas..shweta, YOU HAVE LATEST TILLTHIS COMING WEDNESDAY!!!!! i want the entire details of ur proposed event, so i can get approval as quickly as possible from the faculty..
BTW, we have also Mr. Areeb Khans test on Monday. Hope everyone got all the slides...there are 6 slides total, and all are posted in the "Files" section.. There are 5 groups who also have their presentations on Monday..Im sure they will be very informative..pls guys upload ur presentations on the site on Monday evening itself, or give it to me in class and i will upload them here...
Then we also have our Business Skills presentations....i hve NO idea why u guys are takin it so lightly...So many of u are bunking presentations...How irresponsible can u guys get????Giving presentations can only help you, i cant seem to think of a single point against it..If you dont want to give presentations, then why did u guys give ur names?? ur impression is going to go really down in front of all teachers if u behave like this....This is just my opinion, some of you may have had actual problems..but all im trying to do is help u, so pls understand...by bunking presentations, you are harming urself, and tht too greatly...the whole point of doing MBA is tht u become mature, u take on responsibility and you conquer your fears...these are ESSENTIAL qualifications to being a good manager, but sadly i can sense these qualities being taken for a beating in our class...
WHEW!!!!! i think im rambling a bit too much now...Does anyone actually read these posts tht i put up??? or do u ppl just ignore them? i think it will be very nice if i can get some feedback from atleast some of u guys...(positive feedback will be highly appreciated--negative ones wont be appreciated, but atleast will be read...)...
Good Night, Sweet Dreams, Ramadan Kareem.....
-Your Lovable J.S,
Varun Nair.

RAMADAN KAREEM !!!!!

HI Frenz!!!! I just wanted to personally wish all of you Ramadan Kareem..Hope you achieve all your goals during this holy month...

Thanks for YOUR SUPPORT !!!! - Joint Secretary

Hi Friends,
As you all know, the elections for the new subject association of CMS just got concluded a couple of days ago. we saw 3 days of frantic campaigning by all the parties, esp the seniors..Miraj bhai and Saqib bhai contested for the post of Vice President, Mehul bhai was uncontested for General Secretary (which happens to be a higher post than VP btw), and myself (Varun Nair), khalid and faiz contested for the post of Joint Secretary.
As for the results of the election, Miraj bhai won by a landslide, getting more than 70% of the votes cast, to become the VP. The post of JS was more closely contested. I finally got close to 50% of the total votes cast, which was quite a surprise, since most of the seniors i asked supported faiz, then khalid. That means i won the election, because the majority of our class supported & voted for me...So all i want to say is "THANK YOU MY FRIENDS FOR YOUR UNANIMOUS SUPPORT !!!!!!! I LOVE Y'ALL !!!!! " I esp want to thank Zaid, Farhan & Naiyyer, who not only supported me, but actively campaigned for me as well....I also want to thank meeraj, deepak, sonal, chow, chandresh, mozammil, naveen and others who offered their constant support, even tho i never even once asked for their votes..Among the girls, our gorgeous Rakhi-Chandrikha and Hafsa and Nisha were with me from the very beginning, always encouraging me.THANK YOU ALL !!! I shall not let you down, and i shall represent our class optimally in all dept activities... i shall keep my promise that all of us shall work hard TOGETHER as a team, to get things done...
So thats it, thanks again for ur unanimous support...

Long Time No Posts!!! - Weekly Update Options

Hello PPL!!!! How are all of you? Hope ur all enjoying yourselves....im sorry i couldnt post anything for the past 3 days...contrary to the thots of some ppl, its NOT becoz im lazy, but becoz the net connection in my room wasnt working..
A lot of things happened in the last few days, to some of which i shall start detailed posts..There were the elections happening, which chose the first members of the CMS subject association. Then there was selection of the various members of our clubs..the final list shall be out on monday.. we also had our amazing guest faculty teaching us statistics....i think all of u know how i feel abt him...this week also saw some of us giving our presentations in Mr Areeb Khans class and all of us submitting our first assignment to Rachna Gedam mam.
This coming week will have some important activities for us i guess..Most prominent one is the summer project presentations given by the seniors.. we have to attend tht, to get an idea on how to present our own projects next year. each presentation will be for 12 mins plus 3 mins for any questions..the whole activity will take 3 days..
Our business communication (dr, SWA) presentations will start this monday onwards...all the best to the students who r giving it...
The placement brochure will also be out this comin week..i hope all of you confirmed your fotos and details with our senior anurag bhai.
btw we can issue books from our CMS library also...each student can issue 2 books a week, for a week.if there is any late submission, you wont be allowed to issue any book for 10 days..
I guess this is it...If anyone want to add any extra info tht i missed, feel free to post them here...till then, tc have an amazing weekend...

HAPPY INDEPENDANCE DAY!!!!!!

Like the subject says, happy 62nd independance day ppl!!!! there was a survey done by times of india a couple of days ago, and it showed that more than 85% of ppl aged between 18 and 35 were proud to be indians and even if they had a chance to become a national of any other country, they would still prefer to be indians...i think tht this is a great trend indeed....i myself had the opportunity to go abroad for higher studies, but in the end i decided to stick to delhi and jamia itself..all my life i spent outside my country, and now i get the feeling tht india might hve been better....nyways better late thn never......the best thing abt india for me is that its so exciting...there is always something new to explore. .dubai is so freakkin small, that in just 2 days you can see the whole country!!! last years i visited humayuns tomb, india gate, qutb minar, lodhi gardens, old fort, jama masjid, delhi zoo, india gate, akshar dham, all the malls in noida, went to many exhibitions and festivals......yet it would only comprise of 0.5% of things to visit and do in delhi alone!!! and the rest of india still beckons me.....
I would like to know something abt you also, my classmates......what is the one thing that you like most abt our country?post it here if you like to share your thots with others....it will helpus to know a little bit more abt u....
Jai Ho!!!! -Varun

Well I think that when you read this, it will be too late to matter.....Everyone has to come on Tuesday, 4th of August in a white shirt. Blazers and ties will be provided by our seniors. I have gotten a photographer, and he will be coming at around at 13:00 to click our photos..Its so urgent to do it so fast, since Dr. Gupta wants to print the placement brochures as quickly as possible..Pray everything goes smoothly. Actually im facing some problems from our office, about the payment. I visited 5 different photo studios, and got the best offer, but still it seems that it is too expensive, according to our office...lets see...
Ciao! Im sure all of you will look amazing in the fotos. Post any feedback on the event over here if u have any..
-Varun.

Well, at least the photo session went smoothly, as much as it can go. I hope no one was disappointed. There was some confusion, but it was to be expected, since everything had to be done in such a short notice. I couldn't get confirment about payment from the office till 11:00 am, so that was worrying me slightly. Even our senior Anurag Bhai was absent, so i couldn't go to anyone for advice. Thats why everything was so messy.
So many people were asking their doubts to me, and I couldn't answer them properly because i myself didnt know. I think i may also have inadvertently hurt some of your feelings during the shoot, as i didnt have enough time initially to be with you and update you all properly with information. Sorry for that.
On the plus side, im sure i can get my hands on the fotos. Then i shall post them online over here, so everyone can download them. Then next time anyone of you needs passport size fotos, you just have to take your soft copy in a usb to any foto studio and they can print it out for you..
So thats it, if anyone has anything to comment about todays event, please post them right here..
-Varun. (p.s i just want to add that all of you guys were looking pretty good today.....tc.....)

Fresher's Party

Helllllooooooooooooooooooooooooo ppl!!!! Hope u had a good day today..well we all know what we have to do now....On Saturday 8th of August, we have our official fresher party. and we all have to come in 70's style....OUCH!!!! its a bit easy for girls, but what can we guys do? its definitely a challenge..But pls guys, dont complain abt it now (even tho IM complaining abt it)..i mean the whole clas got a fair chance to state their views, and we as a class elected 70's theme...we have to stick to our decision and make the best of it..(tho i think ethnic theme would hve been easier n smarter choice)
We are supposed to have classes on saturday morn?????????are we supposed to come dressed?????or come with our clothes and then dress up in coll????we hve to think abt it...
i got a bit more info abt mr n miss fresher competition. we have to go in front of the seniors 2morro or on thursday, and they will make us dance and sing or give us a small skit to do in front of them (basically they will ragg our a$$e$). then out of all of us, they will screen around 10 candidates each, male n female. then on saturday they will observe us, then probably ask us to do something on stage as well (only the 'lucky' screened candidates). then tht day they will finally choose the mr n miss fresher. whew!!!!
i hate to sound so pessimistic, but it doesnt even sound like a party to me. im just goin there for the food. atleast we will get a good buffet dinner.
Ciao, post ur apprehensions, comments or ideas here concering our 'party'...
-Varun
